Daily operations in Nyahururu were interrupted on July 4, 2017 after a blanket of hail covered the land, a thing that left many surprised.
TUKO.co.ke reports that residents were excited after seeing the hail and many were quick to share images on social media claiming that the area has experienced snowfall.

Travelling along Rumuti- Nyahururu road was also disrupted by the hailstorm.
Snow in Kenya is not a common sight, given the country sits right on the equator and has vast stretches of semi-desert.

It’s the not the first time, however, Kenyans have experienced the storm.
In 2015, the Kenya Metrological Department dismissed claims that snowfall was experienced in Kinangop, Njabini and Nyandarua after residents woke up to the same white blanket.

Nyahuru also experienced the same weather in 2008.
The storm caused widespread damage to food crops, grazing fields and greenhouses at nearby flower farms.
