7 TOP Buhari officials all from Bauchi (LIST)


Is Bauchi President Buhari's favorite state in Nigeria? It might appear so. We embarked on a fact-check of some of the top officials in the government and his recent appointments, and most of them were from one state - Bauchi.

Here they are:

1. Yakubu Dogara - Speaker

Yakubu Dogara is the 14th and current Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives. Dogara is a Nigerian politician and a member of the APC who has served as the House of Representatives Member for Bauchi state since 2007.

2. Mahmood Yakubu - INEC Chairman

Mahmood Yakubu is a Nigerian academic and current Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Subject to approval by the Council of State, Mahmood was appointed to office by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 21, 2015, succeeding Amina Zakari, who served as acting chairman. He is from Bauchi where he was born in 1962.

3. Rtd. Colonel Hameed Ali - Customs DG

Hammed Ibrahim Ali was born on January 15, 1955, in Bauchi. He is a retired Nigerian Army Colonel and current Comptroller General of The Nigerian Customs Service.

He was appointed to the Comptroller General position by President Muhammadu Buhari on August 27, 2015.

4 Dr Maikanti Baru - NNPC GMD


He was born in July 1959 and is 57 years old. He is from Jama’are in Bauchi State, in the North-East geopolitical zone, but grew up in Jos, Plateau state. President Buhari approved his appointment to take over from Ibe Kachikwu as the General Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

5. Habibat Lawal - Acting SGF

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), Babachir Lawal and Mrs Habibat Lawal stepped in as Acting SGF. She was born on June 3, 1963, in Bauchi state.

6. Sadique Abubakar - Air Force Chief of Staff

Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar was born on April 8, 1960, in Azare, Bauchi state and is the current Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian Airforce (NAF).

He was appointed to the Chief of Air Staff position on July 13, 2015, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

7. Adamu Adamu - Education Minister

Mallam Adamu Adamu was sworn in as the Minister of Education by President Buhari, he hails from Bauchi state.

He is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University where he read Accountancy. He is also a writer and a renowned public analyst and columnist with Daily Trust.
