Gunmen Assassinate Top Aide To Benue Governor, Tavershima Adyorough


SAN FRANCISCO, August 20, (THEWILL) – Gunmen have killed Tavershima Adyorough, the Special Assistant on Knowledge Economy and Investments to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue.

THEWILL gathered that Adyorough was murdered on Sunday in his residence at BIPC Estate Nyiman, Makurdi, the Benue state capital.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Tever Akase, who confirmed the development, said Adyorough was shot and killed by gunmen who invaded his residence at about 12.30 and also shot his wife who is now on admission in an undisclosed hospital.

Akase described the deceased as competent and dependable aide who delivered on assignments with dedication and honesty adding that the state government was demanding for the arrest and prosecution of the killers.

“Governor Ortom describes the killing as unacceptable and condemnable, requesting security agencies to swing into action immediately so as to arrest those responsible for the dastardly act,” he said.

“The Governor sympathizes with the immediate family of the deceased, the government and people of the state on the loss and pledges that he would support security agencies in apprehending the culprits.

“He urges those with useful information that can lead to the arrest to make same available.”

Adyorough’s death is coming a year and three months after Denen Igbana, the Senior Special Assistant on Security to the Benue state governor was also murdered in Makurdi on May 20, 2016.
