23-year-old boy nabbed for allegedly killing younger brother

A 23-year-old boy, Mr. David, whose surname is yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report has been nabbed for allegedly beating his younger brother, Onu, to death.

It was gathered that this is following a minor squabble that sprang up in their family.

The incident took place at Ubia Amaetiti in Amoso Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to their kinsman, their mother, Mary, had sent the deceased on errand but he refused.

She was said to have reported him to his elder brother who then descended on him and inflicted him with bodily harm, which led to his untimely death.

He narrated that: “Last Friday being 28th July, a boy called Onu was sent on an errand by his mother but he refused to go.

“Eventually his elder brother, David, returned from a travel on that day. So his mother reported him to his elder brother.

“His brother now started beating Onu and kicked him to the ground. The boy remained on the ground. He was rushed to the hospital. The first hospital declined to handle him. They then rushed to another hospital in Owutu Edda where he was admitted.

“The following day being Saturday, the boy died. The family reported the matter to the police station but the police directed them to deposit him in the morgue.”

When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jude Madu, said he would get back to our reporter as soon as he was briefed.
