Let's introduce death penalty against corruption in Nigeria - Ex-Foursquare GO Badejo

One of the greatest challenges facing Nigeria is the need to curb corruption especially among politicians and public office holders

Wilson Badejo, a former general overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church, thinks death penalty is the part of the solutions

A top man of God in Nigeria and former general overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev Wilson Badejo, says the best way to fight corruption in the country is to establish death penalty for those found guilty.

According to him, this should involve not only politicians, but every public office holder.

The Punch reports that the well-respected and outspoken Badejo, who chairs the Wilson Badejo Foundation, said this while speaking about the 10th anniversary of the foundation in Lagos.

He reportedly called corruption a terrible plague that needs a drastic measure.

Where every other measure fails, he thinks the introduction of death penalty would help solve the problem as it relates to Nigeria.

“As a preacher, I am for the sanctity of life. I am pro-life.


“But in spite of that, and our democracy notwithstanding, I strongly advise that we copy China which, only last year, decided that those found guilty of high-sum embezzlement or bribe-taking should be executed.

“Maybe if we try the death penalty for corruption and implement the policy steadfastly without minding whose ox is gored, people will stop this madness called looting.

“Maybe it would stop people from stealing our commonwealth blindly and flaunting their blood money in our faces, spraying and dancing on mint-fresh dollars at social parties, making millions of honest and hard-working Nigerians to look like fools,” he reportedly said.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that a Rivers-based lawyer, Abdulkareem Dauda, has said that convicted corrupt government officials and others deserve death penalty.

Dauda expressed his point of views in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday, October 27, in Abuja.


According to the lawyer, death sentence for those found guilty of corruption is justifiable and desirable, considering the fact that corruption destroys every sector of the society.

“If an armed robber who kills one or two persons or robbed at gunpoint gets a death sentence, what of a corrupt government official whose action destroys many lives?” he wondered.

Drunk 20-year-old Boko Haram member nabbed by Nigerian troops

Sani Usman, the director of army public relations, reportedly made the announcement on Thursday June 29 in Maiduguri

Usman further said troops of 29 task force brigade also discovered improvised explosive device (IED) planted along a cattle route

The Nigerian Army has announced its troops of 27 task force brigade, deployed to Buni Gari in Borno, arrested a Boko Haram suspected terrorist.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested by the soldiers on June 25 during perimeter patrol, according to Sani Usman, the director army public relations.

The Cable reports that while speaking in Maiduguri on Thursday, June 29, Usman said: “Preliminary investigation was initially difficult as he was found to be under influence of heavy dosage of dr*gs.

“However, he has since stabilised and making useful statement.”

Apart from this achievement, Usman said the troops of 29 task force brigade also discovered improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected terrorists along Wajiro-Mallam Kuramti cattle route.

“Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade also discovered an IED planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while on patrol on June 28 along Wajiro-Mallam Kuramti cattle route.


“The team safely removed and detonated it,” he said.

He further noted: “On June 28, at about 3.30 p.m. troops of 151 Battalion of 21 Brigade on patrol to Mayanti Village were ambushed by suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists.

“The troops successfully cleared the ambush by neutralizing some of the terrorists, while a re-enforcement was immediately dispatched to mop up the general area.

“The team recovered a 60mm Commando Mortar Bomb, 13 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and 51 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition.

“On June 28 the remains of two gallant soldiers that paid the supreme price on Saturday June 17, along Damboa-Biu road in Borno state, 11NA/66/10788 Lance Corporal Auwal Halliru and 15NA/73/0188 Private Halilu Aliyu of 254 Task Force Battalion were buried according Islamic rites at the Gombe military ceremony.”

Former Miss Anambra finally talks about the controversial video

Former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, has finally addressed the scandal which trailed her some months back.

In a recent interview with The Nation, 20-year-old beauty queen revealed how the organizers of the beauty pageant blackmailed her and used her to achieve their selfish aims with the shocking video which featured her.

Recall that Chidinma Okeke won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service. But after a while, series of lewd videos about her kept surfacing on the internet. There were reports she wanted to kill herself at a point.

But she debunked claims that she wanted to kill herself. Narrating what really went down, she said:

“Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.


“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition.

“He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (s*x) video.


“I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.

“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.

“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.

“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.

“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.

“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).


“I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. My uncle called them and asked them to release my car to me. Instead, they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail. That was what happened.”

Many feared killed, properties destroyed as Cross River communities clash

Many people are feared to have been killed in a communal clash in Yala local government area of Cross River state.

The crisis which started between residents of Wanikade and Wanihem both in Ukelle North area of the state escalated following a land dispute.

Various properties worth millions of naira were also said to have been destroyed in the clash.

NAIJ.com gathered that the incident which started on Monday, June 26, is one out of many crisis within the area.

In June, many lives and properties were said to have been lost in Obubra and Yakurr local government areas over a piece of land.

100 people were said to be killed in just one conflict.


Also, an eye witness who pleaded anonymity said the clash lasted for three days without any form of intervention from either the state or federal government.

“Close to hundred persons have lost their lives due to land dispute in Ukelle North, Yala LGA”, he alleged.

Also confirming the report, the Cross River state commissioner of police Hafiz Inuwa said, contrary to reports that 100 people were killed in the clash, only one fatality was recorded.

Inuwa added that houses and properties were also destroyed.


He said: It’s just a little misunderstanding and the matter has been settled with the help of the police and the military."

Ogun State College of Health suspends lecturer for getting nursing student pregnant (photos)

A lecturer identified as Dr Seyi Adu at the Ogun State College of Health Technology (OSCOTECH), Ilese-Ijebu has been indefinitely suspended for getting one of a 300 level Dental Nursing student pregnant.

Punch reported that in August 2016 Adu was caught sleeping with his student Mosunmola in a hotel. The case was immediately reported to the school authority and other academic staffs were warned stay away from him.

Dr Adu was identified as the Oral Health Coordinator of the college. Confirming his suspension from the college was the school’s spokesperson Ayodele Alaga. He said that:

“It is true. The suspension is indefinite. We have severed relationship with him. He was an adjunct lecturer. We will await the final outcome of the investigation by the ministry of health.”

However, Mosunmola was reported to have delivered a baby boy from her affair with Adu but the lecturer has refused to make any payment to her, claiming that she wants to turn him into a cash-cow.

Adu who is married with two children had earlier agreed to pay his baby mama a monthly fee of N5,000 in addition to the N7,000 ante-natal fee, defaulted after he was presented with a list of items needed for Mosunmola’s delivery worth N50,000.

Mosunmola gave birth at the General Hospital, Epe. Narrating her side of the story the young lady revealed that while in 100 level, Adu told her either she pays him or use her body to pass his course.

A Zambian police woman has broken the internet with the uniform she wore. The young woman’s outfit was thought to be awkward and indecent for the force.

Esther Mwaata Katongo, the police spokesperson, has addressed the issue and condemned the indecent dressing attire of the female officer of Sesheke.

Unfortunately, the picture of the officer had gone viral on the social media and this seemed to complicate matters the more.

According to Katongo, the policy does not accommodate female officers wearing mini skirts and if they have to, only skirts that pass the knee are allowed.

"Our policy is at least knee length no officer take the tailors to reduce the size. We attribute this to poor supervision by supervisors. They need to ensure that officers are modest in their dressing and are smart. A uniform is not for modelling," Katongo says.


She also revealed that the supervisor of the officer in Sesheke has been called in order for the matter to be addressed.

"Officers should always be decent in their dressing and help in portraying the good image of the institution. Their skirts should at least be knee high as opposed to what is in the picture," says the police spokesperson.

However, the Facebook post made by Mwebantu revealed that some people are on the officer’s side. They think there is nothing wrong with her outfit.

28-year-old man kills his own sister, buries her body in backyard (photo)

 A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his sister and buried her body in the backyard

The police exhumed the body of the deceased after they got hinted about her disappearance

Silindi Ncube, a 28-year-old man who is also known as Nda has become a major suspect in the murder of his 26-year-old sister, Patience Ncube, who he allegedly killed, wrapped in a blanket and buried in a pit at their backyard.

The prime suspect who hails from Bulawayo’s Old Magwegwe suburb is said to be on the run as police are doing their best possible in unraveling the mystery surrounding the death and the motive behind it.

The deceased was said to be a worker at a retail outlet in Entumbane suburb. The news of her death shocked residents in the area when her body was exhumed. The young woman was reported missing by her cousin, Miss Angela Tshuma, and her neighbors on June 15.


Police exhumed the body of the deceased from a pit at the back of their home.
Tshuma was said to have travelled to Esigodini when Silindi reportedly killed his sister. The young lady said he lied about the whereabouts of his sister when asked. He had goaded her into believing this by telling her Patience must have gone with a boyfriend as he claimed to have seen her leaving with someone in a car.

This story did not go well with Tshuma who claimed the deceased things were in the house. She felt it was unusual for her to leave without her cosmetics, shoes and personal effects. She reported the case at the police station and she was told an investigation would commence.

According to Tshuma, Silindi stayed in the house as if nothing happened then disappeared on Tuesday, June 20. Residents also helped with the investigation as one Mr Sithabile Mawere, a neighbour said they became suspicious when Silindi was seen throwing an object into a pit early in the morning while the sister was missing.

The residents urged the police to dig the yard as they said they saw him dumping an object covered in sheet into it. The latter wanted to interview Silindi first. The police found two pits in the backyard; the first one was empty and this almost left them discouraged.

The unrelenting neighbours however urged them to keep searching based on what they claimed to have seen. When police officers entered the house, they found a blood stained pillow and this made them dig further.

While the search was on, they stumbled on her wrapped body. They took out the body the following morning because it was dark when they found it.

Neighbours gave their testimonies about the deceased. It was gathered that the siblings started living with their grandmother after their parents died. However, they became the occupants of the house when the old woman moved to her rural home in Nkayi.

According to them, Patience had always complained about her brother stealing from the house. They could not live in peace as the brother was said to be problematic.

The colleagues of the deceased were shocked by the news of her death as she was on leave and was expected to resume the day her body was found. They described Patience as a disciplined employee

Police rescues woman who climbed tree to kill herself

NAIJ.com gathered that a woman was rescued by policemen after she threatened to kill herself by jumping off a tree.

According to reports, the residents of Mhinga village outside Malamulele, Limpopo, South Africa, were thrown into a state of confusion after spotting a woman who wanted to kill herself.

A police spokesman identified as Moatshe Ngoepe said:

“If the woman was violent, police would have helped to get her down and take her to hospital. In that event, we advise her family to involve social workers if necessary.”

A 50-year-old man who stopped growing at the age of five says he feels blessed

He said he has become the toast of the village with his stature

A 50-year-old man identified as Basori stopped growing when he was five years old. He was said to have been born like a normal child and had a normal height as a toddler. However, at the age of five, he stopped growing.

Although Basori’s family members could not have him examined by the doctor when he stopped growing, they did everything they could to take care of him. Basori who was bullied when he was younger has become the toast of his village and has led many curious people to his tiny village in India.

He lives with Gopi Lal, his elder brother and his wife. “Nobody was able to take him to a doctor. We are poor people, I am a labourer. Where would I take him?” his brother said.

Basori is only 29 inches tall.

Basori stopped growing when he was five years old.

Basori has gone past the days when he was bullied and taunted in his village. “People used to bully me a lot. They used to call me an alien. But that time is gone now. I am the only one who is being loved by the villagers.”

Basori revealed he is happy with his life.

He works in a factory in his village and has become a celebrity because of his unusual height. Despite being small for his age, he did not allow this to get to him as he revealed that he drinks a glass of whiskey every night before going to bed.

His brother on the other hand is of a normal height. He says he feels proud to have him in the family as he had drawn the attention of people from different origins and backgrounds to them.

Basori lives with his brother and his wife.

Basori is happy with his unusual stature as he claims to be blessed with it. “I don’t have a problem with my height.

“I work, live and sleep like other people. I also eat like normal people.

“Whatever I am is okay. I don’t face any problems because of my height.”

The family feels blessed to have him as he has become a toast in the village.

Basori’s brother is a labourer. He said the family could not afford to take him to a doctor when he stopped growing.

A young Nigerian lady who goes by the name @grooveeshakes on Twitter has revealed that notorious kidnapper, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike also known as Evans, kidnapped and killed her uncle.

According to the young lady, she just found out that Evans was the one behind her uncle’s captivity and death.

With the new revelation from the lady, more trouble would come for Evans after claiming that he took care of all his victims.

There was drama recently when a nurse at Claybank Hospital, Kudzai Juliet Mudema, was caught in bed with another man during her honeymoon.

Kudzai and her husband, Progress Walusi, were student nurses.

According to Hmetro, Kudzai was caught by her husband while making out with her ex- boyfriend identified as Lawrence.

In a leaked WhatsApp chats, the heartbroken Walusi with Kudzai's sister Gulez talked about the infidelity matter.

Translated to English, the husband said:


There was drama recently when a nurse at Claybank Hospital, Kudzai Juliet Mudema, was caught in bed with another man on her wedding night.

“… I’m hurt, more than hurt, as I am texting you so tears are flowing down my cheeks. The last time I cried was 2009 when my mum passed away. … you know us very well ndichimuregerera you are the best person to testify kuti ndakambozama because I always confided in you.

Responding in the chat, Gulez said:

“Please forgive her… I know and understand what you are going through and would not want to coerce you into a premature decision but I just feel there could be another chance.”

When Kudzai was contacted, it was her cousin who answered the phone. She revealed that Kudzai had gone to Namibia to make peace with her husband.

The husband was contacted on Whatsapp and he said:

“I know and very much respect the nature of your job but whatever happened to us, it’s a thing of the past. What I did back then or what she did back then zvaiva zvenguva iyoyo.. she is and will remain my wife.


"Am sure u phoned her number mukataura ne whoever has her phone ikoko kuZim. We are trying to deal with our situation and we're doing just fine".

"If u would seek to find more info u would realize whatever abt honeymoon it's not true and even contradicts how the event unfolded because honeymoon yacho we haven’t managed kuyiita due to work commitments. But whoever is behind this has a score to settle after all it's our personal life', he added.

Souza pulled out a gun on player Marcos Lopes Vieira who hit him after protesting

An amateur game in Brazil almost turned into an ugly affair when a referee pulled out a gun and brought handcuffs onto the pitch after claiming a player had punched him in the face.

A video which has started appearing online shows Camilo Eustáquio de Souza, who is also a police officer, fetch a weapon from a dugout but a linesman blocked the official and persuaded him not to take the matter further.

Souza was reacting to an attack by player Marcos Lopes Vieira who plays for Industrial from Itaú de Minas.

The player's team was penalised against Passos side Oriente in the Amador Regional Championships of the Passense League but he was not happy with the decision.

Vieira, meanwhile, had to jump over the Starling Soares Stadium fence in Passos to hide in a dressing room for safety.

De Souza insisted his behaviour was perfectly acceptable, even though he faces a two-year ban after being reported for abusing his power.


He said: "My actions were not an exaggeration - the exaggeration was down to the behaviour of the player.

"I was in charge of the game and to bring things under control I made the decision to act in my capacity as a police officer and arrest a citizen who assaulted me

But the video footage shows players looking shocked as they stand well clear when de Souza returns to collect his stuff from the bench, seconds after the incredible incident.

The League's president José Vítor dos Santos has confirmed De Souza could be suspended for his his actions.

Nikki added that they have a doctor, an assistant professor, a future lawyer with just one more year of law school left, a teacher, and a civil engineer.
