April is Autism Awareness Month, a time when people the world over conduct campaigns to highlight issues affecting autistic people. It is also a time to celebrate the exceptional talents autistic people often have, such as that of British world famous artist, Stephen Wiltshire.

It is not in doubt that Wiltshire possesses exceptional talent—he can reportedly draw an entire landscape after having just a single look at it.
However, that's just the beginning. He has been commissioned by the British Prime Minister as an artist, he runs a gallery in central London, and one of his drawings welcomes world visitors to Heathrow Airport in London.

He has also written several books on drawings as well as drawn in several cities around the world, including Sydney, Jerusalem and Mexico City.
His talent is said to be found in just 10 percent of autistic people in the world and in less than one percent of non-autistic people. It is such a rarity that he has been referred to as a "human camera."

While Wiltshire was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, it has never got in the way of his abilities.
Due to autism, he has also struggled with language from an early age and he therefore uses drawings as a way to express himself better than through words.

His paintings often sell for thousands of pounds and he is constantly in demand for commissioned drawings, which means he travels frequently to observe landscapes.
He is indeed an outstanding example of the extraordinary innate abilities autistic people have. He hopes to inspire autistic children to follow in his example.
