Amy Jadesimi never wished or dreamt of working in oil and gas industry, but she is now the boss of one of the leading oil companies in Nigeria

Amy, on her part, had completely different career path. She received medical degree from Oxford University and worked as investment banker in the UK. How did she end up in ‘deep oil’?
Amy Jadesimi is not your ordinary woman! She is the boss of oil business. Ironically, she never wanted anything to do with oil, or gas for that matter, despite the fact that her father was in serious oil business. How comes she is now in oil business?
Jadesimi became LADOL's managing director in 2009.
Even Amy herself seems to be hard-pressed to explain why she is at the top of oil business.
"The one thing that I definitely didn't want to do was work in oil and gas," she says.
That, however, was before she got involved with Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL), a company that her father, Oladipo Jadesimi, reportedly founded in 2001 to provide support services to Nigeria's oil industry.
Jadesimi is a rare female boss in an industry dominated by men.
Amy had set out on a very different career path. She received a medical degree from Oxford University and went on to work as an investment banker in the UK. Then she moved to the US to complete her MBA at Stanford Business School, before returning to Nigeria.
"I knew that I had enough education and experience that I could really add value in the market back home," she says.
But she wasn't sure exactly how to do that, until she joined the family business.
"When I got involved with LADOL, I realised that's what I'd been missing," she says.
Amy became the managing director of the company since 2009. The executive director is still her father.
And one thing is clear. Being a woman has never stopped Amy from ascending to the top of the male-dominated oil industry.
