Why Real Madrid turned down late move for Alexis Sanchez

Real Madrid rejected the chance to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal on transfer deadline day, according to Spanish publication Don Balon.

Sanchez was desperate to quit the Emirates this summer, with Manchester City his preferred destination, before last Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

However, he was reportedly offered to Real Madrid a day later, as the La Liga window closed on Friday.

Real manager, Zinedine Zidane rejected the move, as the Frenchman made it clear he is happy with the forward line already in place at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Sanchez will now remain at Arsenal into the last year of his current deal and could sign a pre-contract with a foreign club as early as January 2018.
