Giroud’s wife shot down Everton move

The France international has endured a largely frustrating time at the Emirates Stadium, with manager Arsene Wenger preferring to utilise his talents from the substitutes’ bench.

Giroud has made no secret of his desire to be starting in the Premier League and Everton appeared to offer him that option as the Toffees looked for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United in early August.

However, any switch from London to Merseyside failed to materialise, with Giroud’s partner seemingly making the final decision.

Former Stoke City midfielder turned pundit Charlie Adam told Radio Five Live: “I heard his [Giroud’s] partner refused the deal [with Everton].

“The deal was nearly done, he wanted to come, but I heard it was his girlfriend or wife that turned it down.”
