LONDON, U.K. - A new study has revealed a shocking fact about a device that could be monitoring your every move.
Big Brother smart watches reportedly monitor every move of the wearer and prevent memory lapses and such devices could soon become a reality.
According to scientists, the smart watches would remind users if they’ve forgotten routine tasks like brushing their teeth or doing the dishes.
Scientists are said to be working on an artificially intelligent (AI) system that takes the idea of activity tracking to a whole new level.
They have said that the new watches will know when a routine task has been left undone and provide a "helpful" reminder.
Further, they said that device could serve as memory joggers for the elderly, promote healthy lifestyles, assist in health care, or aid rehabilitation after injury.
Also, they could be used to analyse consumer behaviour or track the performance of factory workers, one of the researchers behind the invention admitted.
According to Dr Hristijan Gjoreski, from the University of Sussex, "The assembly worker usually performs some set of activities in order to assemble the product. This kind of device can monitor automatically what the worker is doing and remind him if he forgets to do some sort of activity."
Dr Gjoreski has added that his group was talking to companies that might be interested in commercially developing the gadget.
Such a gadget could be available in three to five years.
Dr Gjoreski said, "If you have a sequence of activities you're supposed to do, it could remind you of the next step. Current activity-recognition systems usually fail because they are limited to recognising a pre-defined set of activities, whereas of course human activities are not limited and change with time."
Discussions on the research will be held at the British Science Festival that is scheduled to be held this week in Brighton.
IT will then be presented at the International Symposium on Wearable Computers in Hawaii.
