Horror! Woman's Eye Pops into Her Nose During Horrific Road Accident (Photos)

The CT scan before and after photos have left many people in shock

People have been freaked out after medical scans of a woman whose eye popped into her nose during a horrific accident that shattered her skull.

Dramatically, she survived.

In a report by Metro UK, the CT scans are from a 25-year-old woman who was involved in a car crash in America and required eight hours surgery.

The ophthalmology surgeon posted the pictures onto medical website Figure 1 and won universal praise for his handy work.

He said: ‘A trauma work-up revealed a traumatic brain injury with intracranial hemorrhage, a traumatic eye injury requiring enucleation, and extensive facial fractures.

‘This CT shows her completed facial reconstruction. Thanks to a dedicated multidisciplinary team, the patient is now ambulatory and recovering well.’

The post was viewed 643,398 on the medical website Figure 1 and the reaction was a mixture of awe and congratulations.

A registered nurse said: ‘Looks like a masterpiece.’

And a nursing student added: ‘The surgeons who performed this are an absolute team of da Vincis.’

The post was uploaded in 2015 but this week it was shared on Imgur and Reddit, where the reactions of non-healthcare professionals was decidedly different.

Avalisk said: ‘What’s all the shit that looks like broken string?’

Tuckmyjunksofast added: ‘ With that much bone damage my guess is that he/she had no face left, just a mass of shredded flesh.’

SoLongSidekick said: ‘Imagine having to try to put that puzzle back together. There’s skin and tissue always preventing you from seeing what’s actually going on, and a billion tiny splinters of bone to deal with. This is a freaking masterpiece of modern medicine.

‘That’s crazy. Look at all the tiny little metal pieces holding that ex-scrambled eggs head together.’

And there were several posts about Humpty Dumpty being put together again. However, the surgeon was happy to point out: ‘Patient is actually doing well and looks great.’
