Real-life fairytales don't happen often, but when they do, they take your breath away. Laura Scheel and Matt Grodsky's romance is one such story.

The two natives of Arizona, US, first met when they were kids in preschool over 20 years ago and immediately had a crush on each other.

The two young love birds lost touch for seven years when they started elementary school. They reconnected by chance while in high school and became boyfriend and girlfriend within two weeks.

Matt and Laura's love endured the distance when they went to colleges in different states.

Matt shared their story on The Way We Met's Instagram page, which chronicles beautiful love stories. He wrote: "One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front of my pre-school class, declaring that I would marry her someday."

Matt continued: "As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese.

We have fond memories of playing hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously staying up during nap time. I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day."

They lost touch but reconnected in high school. He proposed at the same preschool where he first promised he'd marry her one day
He said: "We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015, when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I proposed to her at the place it all began... our preschool classroom."

What a beautiful story! Matt and Laura finally got married in December 2016.
