When Mustapha Babadidi began his football career, his dream was to play at the highest level of the round leather game, but he never knew that his football journey would be affected by a career threatened injury.

In 2012, Babadidi stormed the Nigeria Professional Football League with scintillating and incredible performances while playing for Gombe United.

The striker became a household name after banging-in 10 goals in his first six games for the Desert Scorpions and was tipped to excel or possibly become a great.

The 23-year-old's light was deemed, no thanks to the injury he sustained on February 12, 2012 during a game against Enugu Rangers.

Babadidi who was then compared to late Nigerian football legend Rashidi Yekini was on the verge of securing a mouthwatering deal at VVV-Venlo, but the injury he picked against the Flying Antelopes made the club to put the deal on hold.

NAIJ.com Sports can exclusively report that the player has been operated and even played last term towards the end of the Nigeria National League for FC Yarma Light.

''I am presently at home in Gombe, and so sad that the injury I picked when I was at my peak stopped me from signing for VVV Venlo who were so much interested in me.

''I have gone to Holland, and I have accepted personal terms with Venlo, but I only came back for farewell before I picked the injury which ended the journey.

''So sad that I picked the career threatening injury when I was supposed to be playing in Europe, but I thank God that I am alive.

"For now, I'm talking with one of the top coaches in the Nigerian League for him to give me the chance to start all over again,''
