Lampard wants the Blues to sign Everton forward Romelu Lukaku this summer
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has stated emphatically that Everton forward Romelu Lukaku will be a perfect replacement for Spanish international Diego Costa should he leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Diego Costa's future at Chelsea is seriously in doubt after revealing earlier in June 2017 that the Blues' manager Antonio Conte has told him to leave the club.
NAIJ.com understands that the 28-year-old striker is considering a return to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, and Lampard wants the Blues to replace him with Lukaku who scored 25 Premier League goals last season.
Everton star Lukaku
"He's very determined. I remember in training, he'd practice his shooting and would be trying to score goals pretty much every day.
"I respect lads like that. I think he deserves the best, and talking about Chelsea, if Costa does move on and they want to get someone like-for-like, a big front man who can score goals, Lukaku has proven he can do that." he said.
Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011 but spent the 2012-13 season on loan at West Brom before joining Everton initially on loan the following year.
