Liverpool move for Arsenal star with direct approach to Gunners

Arsenal could see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave the club for Liverpool

The Englishman has just one year left on his current contract at the Emirates

The Gunners are far from agreeing a new contract with the 23-year-old

Liverpool have asked Arsenal to name their price for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Jurgen Klopp looks to add the England international to his squad for next season.

The Mirror reports that Anfield chiefs' made a direct enquiry to Arsenal for the £25million-rated winger/central midfielder.

Arsenal have rejected the request but NAIJ.com understands the Gunners could be willing to sell as the player stalls on signing a new contract which expires in 2018.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 23-year-old but he faces competition from Manchester City and Chelsea for the player's signature.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has one year left on his current deal and while discussions about an extension has begun, there has not been much progress.

Arsenal are at a cross roads this summer with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez Jack Wilshere, left-back Kieran Gibbs and reserve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny all having one year left on their contracts.

None of the players are close to signing a deal with the club.
