NAIJ.com gathered that a 5-woman gang were arrested and paraded in Ngor Okpala, Imo state, for allegedly conniving to sell a 3-year-old boy.

According to reports, the five women identified as Chinonye Okere, Joy Ama, Pauline Uzoamaka, Nnenna Okere and Eucharia Amadi, were arrested for child trafficking in Ngor Okpala, Imo state recently.

One of the suspects had reportedly stolen their 3-year-old victim from a burial ceremony and ended up selling him to a woman identified as Uzoamaka for the sum of N600,000.

55-year-old Uzoamaka said she had bought the baby from Mrs Amadi, in Nnewi, Anambra state, sometime in April.

These five women participated in the selling of a 3-year-old baby

Parading the suspects before the press in Owerri, commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, said:

“In the 21st Century when people are engaging in productive activities, like going to the moon, these ones are shamelessly engaging in buying and selling of God’s beautiful creation.

To learn that they sold this handsome child for a pittance of N600,000 is most annoying and shameful.

We will not spare them. We will arraign them in court on Monday (today) for them to answer their charges. The gang is a criminal chain and we will ensure that the law takes its full cost.

Ezike also revealed how a policeman known as Felix was fingered as part of the gang by the women, adding that he is currently facing an orderly room trial, and is facing dismissal should he be found guilty.

One of the suspects also said two other people including her husband were part of the gang and were currently on the run from the police.
