As a result, she was not able to breastfeed her first child

However, she is now able to breastfeed her second baby

A mother in Michigan, US has had a longstanding wish fulfilled—breastfeeding her baby.

Schamica Stevenson, 34, suffered severe burns in a house fire when she was only two years old. As a result, she had to undergo several skin grafts.

She therefore thought she would never breastfeed her children. Indeed, when she gave birth to her daughter Paris, she resorted to formula milk.

Paris is now 13 and healthy, but when Schamica had her second child named August nine weeks ago, she was determined to try and breastfeed him.

After a short period of trying, August was finally able to breastfeed. Schamica is now on a mission to give hope to other mothers who may have challenges with breastfeeding.

She has shared photos of herself breastfeeding August in a bid to show other moms that with some effort, it can be done. She has received praise and support as a result.

In an interview, she said: "I wanted other women to know it's worth [it] to keep trying. It was a difficult to get my son to latch at first and I thought about giving up. I thought maybe I was too damaged from the burns, but in the end it worked."
