A Ugandan man has revealed how he ended up marrying his brother's pregnant girlfriend.

Writing anonymously in Uganda's Daily Monitor, the man named Sam said his brother abandoned his girlfriend without knowing she was pregnant.

He added that his brother had made another woman pregnant and had chosen her over his first girlfriend.

The girlfriend was left confused and unsure whether to tell her now ex-boyfriend that she too was expecting his child or not.

The distraught girlfriend confided in Sam about the betrayal and he sympathized with her because he too had suffered a similar betrayal from a previous relationship.

She poured her heart out to him, saying: “I know you must be wondering why, of all people, it is you I have run to. You are the only one who ever understood me."

Before long, the two grew close and Sam eventually asked her to marry him. She agreed, knowing fully well that Sam would act as his brother's child's father.

Sam wrote that his brother was fine with the arrangement: "I would adopt the child and raise it as my own. My brother was aware of this decision, and he was okay with it. To him, it was just another child; he did not even love the girl anymore."

He concluded that everyone is happy and that Sam is now three years old.
