Another senator dumps PDP, joins APC amid protest from colleagues

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the Nigerian Senate are currently protesting as one of them, John Enoh representing Cross River, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Though real details of what led to his defection are still sketchy, Enoh said his decision was based on personal reasons.

It was learnt that his colleagues in the opposition party are not happy over the situation.

Some of them are complaining that Enoh did not inform them before taking his decision to leave their fold.

Despite the protest however, Enoh was welcomed by the Senate President Bukola Saraki on the floor of the chamber.

It was reported that the population of the PDP members in the Senate has been depleting since 2015.

In January, 2017, Nelson Effiong, the senator representing Akwa Ibom South senatorial district, left the PDP and joined the APC.

Also in February, another senator, Andy Uba representing Anambra South joined the APC reducing the number of PDP senators to 42, while that of APC has rose to 65.
