She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies
Ordinarily, one would expect a great-grandmother to be sitting in a college graduation hall celebrating one of her children or grandchildren.
However, 79-year-old Lucy Capers was sitting at the University of Maryland's graduation hall on Sunday, May 14, as a graduate in her own right.
She was being conferred her Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies degree as her children looked on in pride.

In an interview with ABC News, Capers said she got married at 18 and decided to focus on raising her three children while working for the federal government.
Reports gathered that Capers could not hold back the urge to return to school after she retired which led to the two associate degrees she obtained before her latest achievement.
