Rampant Barcelona demolish Osasuna as La Liga title race heats-up


It seems the the race for the La Liga title is far from over

Barcelona demolished Osasuna 7-1 at home to extend their lead on the log

Messi, Andre Gomes and Alcacer all scored a brace, with Mascherano also getting on the score-sheet

FC Barcelona on Wednesday night, April 26, proved extra-ordinary at the Camp Nou where they demolished Osasuna 7-1 to put pressure on Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring as early as the 12th minute to settle his side into the encounter.

Andre Gomes who scored the last gasp winner in the ultimate come-back match of the UEFA Champions League against PSG made it 2 in the 30th minute.

The visitors then pulled one back three minutes into the second half, but the Catalan giants responded with five more goals to send strong signals as the race for the title heats-up.

Andre Gomes and Lionel Messi completed their brace in the 57th and 61st minute respectively to put it at 4-1.

As if that was not enough, the tiki-taka kings made it 5-1 through Francisco Alcacer before Javier Mascherano who has not scored for 7 years extended the rout when he slotted home from the spot in the 67th minute.

There was still time for Alcacer to complete his brace when he slotted the ball home off a fine move in the 86th minute. It ended; Barcelona 7-1 Osasuna.


With 78 points, Barcelona now lead the La Liga standings on better goals difference as Real Madrid also saw-off Deportivo La Coruna 6-2 away from home.

Los Blancos however have a match in hand.
