Police arrest suspects in Dortmund team bus bombing




- Dortmund team bus was attacked in a bomb blast while they were on the move to face Monaco in a UCL tie

- The blast saw their team bus window shattered and saw a player injured as a result of the incident

- German police are investigating the attack and they have two Islamist suspects linking it to ISIS Berlin attack

Dortmund team bus was attacked in a bomb blast on Tuesday as they embarked on the journey to face French Ligue One side AS Monaco in a Champions League encounter.

The bomb blast saw the window of their team bus shattered and left a player injured as a result of the blast.

Police have arrested an Islamist suspect and is questioning another suspect due to the attack on the German team bus.

The German police have decided to treat the incident as a terrorist attack referring it to ISIS Berlin truck attack as they found a letter on the crime scene.

Frauke Koehle the lead prosecutor said: “Two suspects from the Islamist spectrum have become the focus of our investigation. Both of their apartments were searched, and one of the two has been detained,”

Officials have not said the whereabouts of the detained suspect.

The only causality reported as a result of this incident was Dortmund defender Marc Batra as he was the only injured player in the bomb blast.

The blast saw Dortmund’s Champions League match against Monaco postponed to Wednesday April 12 and will be played at Westfalenstadion.
