Mikel Obi returns to England for surgery

Nigerian international Mikel Obi will undergo surgery in England

This comes after the midfielder picked up an injury while playing for his club Tiajin Teda

The former Chelsea man has been impressive for his Chinese League club since joining them

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel is currently in England and is expected to undergo surgery.

The 30-year-old has been out of action for his Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda since suffering an injury in his side's 2-0 win over Chongqing Lifan where he actually scored his first League goal in the league.

NAIJ.com understands that Mikel had undergone series of tests in China including nuclear magnetic resonance, but the actual cause of injury which gives him discomfort could not be detected.

After the surgery, it is not yet clear how long the 30-year-old Nigerian international will be out as he will need enough time for him to recover.
