Huge python splits skin after swallowing large possum (photos, video)

A python in Australia was caught on camera with a split skin

The tear on its skin was apparently caused by a large possum it had swallowed

A snake catcher relocated it to safety

A large carpet python was caught in camera in Queensland, Australia with several tears on its skin.

It appears the snake had bitten more than it could chew when it swallowed a large possum, causing its stretched skin to split.

In the video, a snake catcher named Lockie is heard describing the python's condition, noting that the possum had likely put up a fight while being devoured.

He said: "He's missing a lot of skin, along, underneath that food item. So whatever it was, it put up a really good fight. And it's actually opened him up."

The snake tried struck at the snake catcher several times but he expertly avoided it
The snake can also be seen in the video trying to bite Lockie several times, but the snake catcher deftly evaded its strikes.

Lockie managed to capture the feisty snake and relocated it to a safer place away from humans. He added that its wounds will likely heal with time.
