Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar, rejected a move to Arsenal on transfer deadline, because he was not keen on playing in the Europa League.
The Gunners finished fifth last season and will not be playing in the Champions League for the first time in two decides.
And according to Standard Sport, this proved to be a stumbling block as they tried to wrap up a deal for Lemar on Thursday.
The 21-year-old has been Arsene Wenger’s number one target all summer and at least three bids have turned down by the Ligue 1 champions for the player.
However, Wenger made one final push, after they agreed to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City for £60million, offering £75million plus add-ons for Lemar.
Arsenal have pulled out of the deal now and Sanchez will also remain at the Emirates.
