Remo Stars FC, the NPFL side that charges opposition N5k



Opposition fans found it hard to see Remo stars play a 1 - 1 draw with FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Remo asked opposition fans to pay at least N5000 to enter the Gateway International stadium

Nigerian Professional Football League side Remo Stars charged N5000 from FC Ifeanyi Ubah supporters who wanted to see the Week 28 fixture between both sides at the Gateway International stadium in Sagamu.

The opposition supporters who put on branded jerseys were also told to part ways with N10,000 to have a place inside the VIP box.

Concern mounted as FC Ifeanyi Ubah supporters who lamented the treatment metted at them having stayed two extra days away from home for a game which was postponed at the last minute.

The match which was scheduled for Sunday, July 9, was moved to Tuesday after about 10 players of Remo Stars were said to have been poisoned after they had ate semo and egusi soup about 24 hours to the game.

A Sagamu indigene who gave his name as Tolu Osho expressed dissatisfaction and also added that it is one of the reasons he doe not go and watch his beloved Remo Stars.

"This is absolute thrash, an FC Ifeanyi Ubah charged. I have been here since Sunday when this game was postponed at the last minute," the fan said.

"I was here till today and lodged in the hotel where I had to part ways with accommodation fee. Now I can't enter the stadium because I don't even have such an amount

"It is so unfortunate.I don't understand why Remo does this all the time, must they have issues with other teams every time?" he queried.

However the match eventually ended 1-1. After a barren first-half, FC Ifeanyi Ubah opened the score-sheet in the 79th minute after Godwin Obaje capitalised on an error by the hosts' goalkeeper.

Barely three minutes later, Victor Mboama netted from a freekick, a goal which gold grab the much coveted VAT Wonder Goal Award. It ended, Remo Stars 1-1 FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

With the result, Remo Stars remain rock bottom of the league with 28 points from 28 matches and FC Ifeanyi Ubah remain 6th.
