Nigerians have criticised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, after he was seen greeting Senate President Bukola Saraki politely.
In the photos that surfaced on social media, the Oba was alleged to be standing up to shake Saraki’s hand politely.
Some Nigerians assumed that the Oba was bowing to greet the politician in respect while others assumed that he was preparing to stand up and greet the Senate president when the photo was taken.
According to Nigerians, the law of Yorubaland says a king should not in any situation stand up to greet anyone in a show of respect.

They expressed that the Oba’s act to show respect to a politician does not befit his station.
Others applauded the Oba for his humble spirit but also advised him that humility is not needed in some cases.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Ooni of Ife was recently ignored by the king of Lagos Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu at an event
