Ella Gift Mensah
Busty actress, Ella Gift Mensah, hit the limelight after she acted in Crime to Christ, a Ghallywood flick in 2010. However, due to her acting prowess, she hit Nollywood in 2012 after a popular movie producer invited her, and today, she straddles both industries as one of the most sought after actresses.
In this chat with Entertainer, Mensah opens up on her growing up, career and lesbianism experience among other issues.
Tell us about growing up and childhood memories
Growing up was beautiful for me. I come from what I will describe as a happy kind of family, because regardless of any situation we encounter, we are always happy; and I used to look up to Genevieve Nnaji, I just love her.
You debuted in Ghollywood and hit Nollywood in 2012. Today, you stand among the most popular actresses in both industries. How did you pull it off?
I started acting in my country, Ghana, in late 2010 after I returned from South Africa with my son. In October 2012, a Nollywood movie director invited me to Nigeria for a movie shoot and now the rest is history.
What were your challenges as a green horn?
As an up and coming actress, because you are not known, most producers don’t believe in your potentials. You have to convince them to give you a chance to show your talent and it could be frustrating.
Did you experience sexual harassment?
No, I did not experience any sexual harassment when I started acting. I guess ‘those perverts’ passed over me (laughter). And for those who have experienced sexual harassment in my industry, I hope they overcome it.
Could you marry a Nigerian?
Yes, as a beautiful Ghanaian woman, I wouldn’t mind marrying a Nigerian, a Togolese or an American. I will marry any man who makes me happy regardless of which country he is from.
As a professional, can you do a nude scene?
No, I can’t do a nude scene but I have played a couple of romantic roles. Some are intense while others are uncomfortable but nothing daring.
Could you share your most challenging movie role with us?
I think my most challenging movie role is yet to come because I have never acted a mad person before You are a sexy and beautiful woman. Who is the guy in your life?
There is no lucky man in my life at the moment and I am not searching right now. I just want to focus on my career.
Could you describe your ideal man?
The kind of man I want is just any normal man, who can make me laugh and he must be very ambitious.
You have attractive boobs and tend to flaunt your cleavage on social media. How are your fans reacting?
I don’t flaunt my cleavage. I only wear what I want.
What do you consider your most prized assets?
My most prized assets are my intelligence and ability to know what I want in life, and how to achieve them.
What is the craziest thing a fan has done to you?
The craziest thing a fan has done to me? That was when I went to Ikeja Mall. A fan walked up to me and said she wanted to date me because she watched a movie of mine where I acted the role of a lesbian, so she thought I was a lesbian in real life.
What are your dreams?
I am working on producing my own movies and setting up a home for old people.
