A 16- year -old boy, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s daughter, was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The suspect, an apprentice, who resides at No 26, Biyi Adeyemo St., Igando, a suburb of Lagos, was charged with defiling an eight-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed on July 26 at the suspect’s residence.
Ogu said that the accused called his neighbour’s daughter into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.
“The accused allegedly defiled the girl and told her not to tell anyone but the following day when the mother was bathing her the girl was shouting,’’ he said.

He said that the suspect was arrested based on the girl’s claim.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for mention.
