Barcelona's first €30m to €35m-a-season contract offer to star player Lionel Messi has been rejected, Spanish media AS reports.
The player and club have been locked in negotiations for a contract extension with La Pulga's current deal expiring in the summer of 2018.

Various reports claim Messi could leave the Nou Camp should a deal fail to materialise with PSG, Manchester City looking at the possiblity of signing the player.
AS however reports that Messi does not want to leave Barca and is still intent on signing a new deal but he wants an increase on the offer from the Catalans.
The 29-year-old was offered a figure of €30m to €35m-a-season but after discussions with his father and agent, Jorge, it was rejected.

Talks are still going on with the two parties hoping to find common ground and extends Messi's stay at the club who he has been with since joining its youth academy in 2001.
Messi is in no rush to sign a new deal and understands the financial situation at the club who offered new deals to Luis Suarez and Neymar in recent times.

Messi however wants his status as the club's most important player to be reflected in the next contract proposed.
The attacker who has been the best player in the world this season has led his club to the final of the Copa Del Rey and first in La Liga but Real Madrid remain in pole position with a game in hand.
