The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) says those championing the complaints on President Buhari`s ill-health intend to distract attention from the war against corruption which is attaining new height
The BMSG states that such complaints are excuse not to acknowledge the monumental achievements of the Buhari-led administration
The group says President Buhari continues in his role as president and commander in chief of the armed forces and had not abdicated his responsibility in that regard
The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) has accused some groups and individuals in the country of politicising President Muhammadu Buhari`s ill-health.
The group in a statement on Thursday, May 4, stated that those championing the complaints on President Buhari`s ill-health were beneficiaries of the old order who intend to distract attention from the war against corruption which is attaining new height, Vanguard reports.
BMSG said such complaints are excuse not to acknowledge the monumental achievements of the Buhari-led administration.
It said that it was unfortunate that such individuals and groups complaining about the president`s ill-health had failed to realise that Nigerians were no longer gullible to cheap blackmails.
“Nigerians feel and are still feeling the presence of the Federal Government through programmes and projects being implemented all over the country as well as people-oriented polices being churned out.
“The true condition of the president`s health as disclosed by officials of the presidency is that he is recovering and gaining energy from treatment he received in the United Kingdom,’’ the group said.
It noted that President Buhari had continued in his role as president and commander in chief of the armed forces and had not abdicated his responsibility in that regard.
It added that the president was getting on with the business of governance on a daily basis, even though he may have stayed out of ceremonial activities.
It maintained that complaints on the president`s health were politically-motivated and advised Nigerians not to be deceived by the diversionary tactics of those who “looted the nation’s treasury and impoverished Nigerians“.
Meanwhile, the supposed meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and his colleague from Niger Republic has been cancelled amid growing concerns over the former’s health condition.
NAIJ.com learnt that Buhari was to meet with President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic, who was bid to visit Nigeria Friday, May 5, 2017.
A statement by Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity in Abuja, said the visit was rescheduled by Issoufou.
According to the statement, the president of Niger has another domestic engagement.
