Eritrean-Ethiopian twin sisters are both deaf
However, they are also style and fashion bloggers
They are spreading a message for the world to embrace disability
Adorable Eritrean-Ethiopian twins sisters Hermon and Heroda Berhane share a bond so strong that they both fell mysteriously deaf at the age of seven.
The 34-year-old twins also do everything together, from modeling, acting and running a fashion blog.
Their remarkable success is driven by one mission: "We want to tell people around the world that you should embrace disability, not hide from it," they said in a CNN interview.
Twins Hermon and Heroda are breaking down barriers against deaf people
The twins grew up in Eritrea but their family moved to the UK in search of treatment for their deafness, which had also affected their brother.
They recall when they lost their hearing: "We were playing together in the backyard of our parents' house; our mother was trying to call our names, and we did not hear at all."
The twins were seven years old when they fell deaf at the same time
Despite never regaining their hearing, they went on to excel in whatever they put they mind to. Hermon picked up acting after a trip to South America while Heroda also took up roles on TV commercials.
They saw no barriers to anything, and Hermon declared: "Deaf people can do it like everyone can."
The sisters believe being deaf is no barrier to success
They added: "We had quite (a lot) of barriers through our lives, especially (our) career, but we fight for it. ... We will have to use our deafness and being black women to break these barriers."
Today they are successful fashion bloggers who promote stylish Eritrean attires online. Their blog is known as "Being Her."
