Sweden has however rejected her asylum application after she failed a "gay test"
A Kenyan woman faces deportation from Sweden after reportedly failing interviews to ascertain whether or not she is genuinely a lesbian.
According to reports, 28-year-old Lucy Murugi came out openly as a lesbian about two years ago. However, her family rejected her.
Given the anti-gay laws in Kenya which meant she faced imprisonment of up to 14 years, she sought asylum in Sweden.

In an interview, Lucy said she did not know what to expect in the interviews and thus barely understood anything, leading to her failure.

She said: “I did not understand anything. No one told me what to expect. What I would do or say, or at least give me some guidelines.
She claimed that her safety is not assured should she be deported back to Kenya, noting that she was publicly identified as gay by a Ugandan publication. She therefore hopes to get a second chance in Sweden.
